Secure Boot Development
We design and implement secure boot for embedded and connected devices, from the hardware root of trust through the bootloader to the application. Signature scheme, key provisioning, rollback protection and failure recovery are designed for the target silicon and tested with tampered images, producing a chain of trust without unverified stages.
- Root of trust
- Assess the silicon trust anchor and key storage.
- Bootloader
- Verify each stage before handing over execution.
- Application
- Enforce signature and version checks on firmware.
- Update
- Verify updates with the same rigor and prevent downgrade.
Scope
Hardware capability and chain-of-trust design
Keys, rollback protection and recovery
Bootloader implementation and testing
Starting information
Target microcontroller or SoC, current boot flow, update mechanism and production programming process.
Applicable framework
Boot integrity supports secure-by-design expectations under Regulation (EU) 2024/2847, software integrity requirements in IEC 62443-4-2 and cybersecurity requirements under ISO/SAE 21434. The achievable chain of trust depends on the target silicon.
